ALEX GARCIA RAY the D.A.
ALEX GARCIA and RAY the D.A. tried BURGLAR, JOHN CORY PATTON last week. The jury convicted him of Burglary 2nd Degree and of being a Persistent Felony Offender (he had 3 prior felony convictions, and OF COURSE was still on the street)
The jury listened to all of the evidence after which they found him guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, and believe it or not, he will have to serve everyday of those 10 years.
HERE ARE THE FRIGHTENING FACTS OF A RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY WHICH OCCURRED WHILE A WIFE AND MOTHER WAS IN THE HOUSE:
At about 9:10 in the morning a hoodlum first rang the the front doorbell of a house on Lakewood Drive. He rang it several times to determine whether anyone was home. The wife was home but was in the shower. She was afraid to answer the door because she didn’t recognize the bad guy. She called 911 and quickly hid under a bed in one of her daughters bedrooms and she whispered to the police about what she heard. . Because there was no response at the front door the hoodlum went to the back of the house and tried to get through the sliding glass doors. No luck, so he broke a basement window, and came in the basement. Then he came upstairs where the wife was hiding under the bed.
All the while the terrified wife was describing the footsteps of the intruder to the police. This thug rifled drawers and jewelry boxes in all of the bedrooms. He came in the daughter’s room where the mom was hiding. She saw his feet from under the bed and was mortified that he would see her.
The police were dispatched by the 911 operator. They arrived within 7 minutes of being notified of a “BURGLARY IN PROGRESS.”
They surrounded the house and shouted “POLICE, COME OUT!”
The defendant jumped through a window and took off running.
Police captured him two houses away. In his pockets they found jewelry and other item which belonged to the residents of the Lakewood house.
The trial lasted one day. The wife testified and was very brave and an excellent witness. This burglar was sentenced by Fayette Circuit Judge Thomas Clark and the bad guy was sent to prison to serve 10 years.
THE GOOD GUYS WIN AND THE BAD GUY LOSES!
