Unsolved Homicides


The Criminal Justice Weekly News To Feature Unsolved Homicides

Since 1999, we at the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office have featured several of Lexington’s unsolved homicides on our website.   The unsolved homicides are featured in hopes of making citizens aware and reminiscent of these unsolved crimes.  It is hoped that by reminding citizens, information will be forthcoming that may assist police and detectives in solving these crimes. 

 Information about these homicides has been obtained from media releases of both the Lexington Division of Police and the Fayette County Coroner.  Photographs of the victims have been obtained from the families of the victims and are used with the consent of those families.

James R. Sinkhorn

Age 20

On Saturday, April 24, 2004 the body of James Sinkhorn was found behind the apartments at 2001 St. Michael Drive. The victim died from apparent gunshot wounds. He was last seen at 2150 Richmond Road during late evening hours.

George Calvin Hurst

George Calvin Hurst

Age 73

On October 21, 2001, at approximately 6am, Lexington Police responded to a call at 424 Gunn Street in reference to an unresponsive man. Police found George Hurst lying on his stomach suffering from a gun shot wound. Neighbors advised that at approximately 5am on the same morning they saw a Black Female subject wearing a white sweater and something on her head and an older Black Male wearing a brown and white jacket. Both were in a goldish colored Saturn. Mr. Hurst had recently won money in the lottery.

Osbaldo Quintana-Reves

Osbaldo Quintana-Reves

Age 22

Police responded to a call of shots fired at 10pm in the Muir Station Road area. Osbaldo Quintana-Reves was found at 2200 Muir Station Road suffering from gunshot injuries. The victim was living at 2100 Carla Court and had been seen at the Hispanic grocery store by the Continental Inn earlier in the evening. There is a suspect of a Hispanic Male, 5'9:, 150 lbs that was wearing a dark baseball hat and red sweatshirt. A possible suspect vehicle is a red Dodge Neon.

Bruce Allen Price

Bruce Allen Price

Age 32

On February 10, 2000, at approximately 10pm, police responded to the 400 block of Elm Street regarding a shooting victim. The victim, Bruce Price, was transported to the emergency room where he died soon afterward. Witnesses stated that earlier a heavy set black male approached Mr. Price, saying something. Witnesses then heard gunshots. The suspect yelled to two other individuals who appeared and then they all got into a dark colored Cadillac, which exited the area.

Frank George Perzel

Frank George Perzel

Age 52

On July 2, 1996, police and emergency care units were dispatched to 445 Davidson Court. Inside the residence the body of Frank George Perzell was discovered. Mr. Perzell died as a result of blunt force trauma. Investigators believe that he was murdered several days prior to the discovery of his body. Mr. Perzel was last seen on the Friday before his death at his place of employment, Michael's Warehouse.

Pamela Lynn Mansell

Pamela Lynn Mansell

Age 35

On the morning of November 8, 2001, a newspaper delivery person discovered the unclothed body of Pamela Lynn Mansell lying in the grass beside a driveway on rural Briar Hill Road. The victim died as a result of strangulation.

Richard Warner

Richard Warner

Age 36

 

Richard Warner was found shot lying on the sidewalk in front of the Church of God in Jesus Name at 512 Georgetown Street on September 11, 1999 by the Lexington Division of Police.  He was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and pronounced dead.  The Coroner report states the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Misty Gwinner

Age18

On April 5, 2005 the Lexington Police responded to a call about a body lying in the road on Cleveland Road. The body was later identified as Misty Gwinner, a native of Covington, KY who has no known connections to Lexington.

Jose DeJesus Lopez-Aguire

Age 20

Jose DeJesus Lopez-Aguire was returning home from a bar on October 10, 2005 with his uncle when they were assaulted by a black male demanding their money. The suspect shot Jose in the head where he subsequently collapsed and died. His uncle was able to escape and call the police.

Don Dale Mitchell

Age 24

Don Dale Mitchell was found injured from a gunshot wound at Thumpers Bar, 950  Winchester Road, on Friday, December 31, 1999 by the Lexington Division of Police.  He was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and was pronounced deceased by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.  The cause of death as stated in the Coroner's Report was hypovolemic shock due to assault with handgun.
